Under African skies…

A blog by: Maryke Luijendijk-Steenkamp, Marketing and Admissions Director at RSM MBA about her experiences  during MBA fairs in South Africa and Nigeria. Our Associate Dean always tells our MBA students that you have to “learn to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.”  When I travel for RSM, this slogan often mulls through my head and my recent trip to Africa was no exception. From flights being delayed indefinitely to my appointment schedule having a life of its own to getting lost in dodgy backroads on my way to an airport, there was never a dull moment. However, I always love…

My trip to Washington and NY…

Posted by in MBA Admissions blog

There is always a great feeling when you travel, even if it is for business. I particularly love to meet different people and experience new views & cultures. Thats why I love my work at RSM! We are here for business people, we  help in accessing and counseling their careers and most important are part of the interesting personal lives of so many students and alumni. This network is amazing! My trip started off in Washington. It was like any other trip without any hassles or problems, however it was slightly different this time.  I arrived on the day of the Super Bowl XLVI ,…

La Dolce Vita

Posted by in MBA Admissions blog

Dear RSM MBA followers, Spring MBA fair season 2012 is at full speed and since my last blog dated from 4 January last, I think it is about high time to give you an update on what’s going on at  the RSM Admissions frontline. At this stage in time, many of my…

The Journey Is Not Over

Posted by in MBA Admissions blog, Student life

The fourth term finally arrived, bringing great professors from almost every continent. Depending on your concentration area you are able to bid for at least five courses. You can choose between Finance, Marketing and Strategy (some general and executive MBA courses are available as well). I was brave enough to select Finance as my concentration. Although it is not one of my areas of expertise, I…

The World is our Playground

First of all ****** Happy New Year to ALL of you!! ****** ****** May your 2012 have started off dazzling for both you and your loved ones ****** With Christmas’ Spirit 2011 and New Year’s Eve still fresh in memory, I am back at my desk. As we are currently closing our Executive Part-time and our International Full-time MBA recruitment cycles, it is always nice to reflect on the hectic and exciting year that passed with my admissions colleagues. While digging up memories, I get the feeling like Charles Dickens’ three Christmas spirits pass by again… The spirit of the…

My MBA! My RSM! Getting there…

Posted by in Student life

I’m so excited! I just cannot hide it! Aha aha aha… Now I’ve got that tune in my head. Last time I wrote about my becoming and how I decided on RSM. This time I thought I’d write to give some insight into my journey to get from Johannesburg to Rotterdam. There were just so many things to keep me occupied. So let’s start at the beginning (after the end that is). The RSM MBA application process in itself was daunting, having to write the essays, getting the references in place, filling in the forms, acquiring supporting documentation, it did…
