MBAT!!!
Posted by Hannah Witteveen in Student life
Before starting the MBA program I was told the MBA Tournament (MBAT) would be one of the highlights of the MBA experience, and having just returned from 4 days in Paris, I could not agree more. Wow! Good times! Loads of sports, cheering, parties and fun fun fun! I had a blast! And I feel so much more bonded with my classmates now. 14 schools participated in this tournament. In previous years this only included European business schools, but this year Harvard even joined from the US to play football/soccer of all things (and they won!). A great atmosphere existed…

The end of my MBA journey
Posted by Aushima Thakur in Student life
Yes, I am done. I have finished my MBA and graduation is 22nd March. The guest of honour, for me, will be my three-year-old nephew. I have bought him a formal blazer to wear as I want to have a photograph of me wearing my graduation gown, with my arms around him.Twenty years from now, I want him to be proud of me and understand what that picture means to me. It was a long journey indeed. There are still times when I look back and am amazed at my own journey. I was 22 before I discovered that I…

Behind the scenes at RSM: An interview with Dr. Arkadiusz Mironko, Academic Director of the RSM MBA programmes
Posted by Chantal Dammann in Staff Interviews
Arkadiusz Mironko is Academic Director of the MBA programmes at the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM). In addition he serves professionally as head of the full-time programme. He joined RSM about four years ago. Not strangely however, Arkadiuszs favourite Dutch city is Amsterdam. He says of the city, Amsterdam offers a variety of history and Dutch masters of art, along with a sense of modernity and a drive for life. The last book he read is Paradox of choice, by psychologist Berry Schwartz, explaining or trying to explain the interest in how, at present, human kind has a great range…

From Bowling to Mango Dancing!
Posted by Cynthia Kahumbura in Student life
Jambo! Being in Rotterdam for 2 months I am loving the interaction with my peers but I must say the MBA course is every bit as challenging as I thought it would be and more. Coming from sunny Nairobi to cold Rotterdam I seem to have adjusted well to the low temperatures. However, having worked for the last 6 years being a student is no easy task. I was warned about it but I completely forgot about the late nights (as an undergrad dont know how many late nights I could attribute to studying), long hours in the library and…

2nd week at RSM….
Posted by Yuriy Kamaletdinov in Student life
Hi guys! It’s my second week at RSM and I can tell you that it’s amazing!! So many new people and new things to know and to do! I am particularly impressed by the quality of our professors – they all really passionate, well-know experts in their fields of study. I enjoy listening to them and reading their articles before and after lectures. They have already made me aware of many issues that I did think before. Today we had a lecture of prof. Karen Stephenson – a leading expert in organizational networks. That was really worthy to attend! Speaking about our…

Before my journey
Posted by Ayumi Kimura in Student life
I will be arriving in Rotterdam very soon with lots of expectations and anxieties…. It is Dianne’s word “We can make you the leader who can make changes in the world” which completely attracted me to RSM. I am fully expecting that this will be the step for it and so excited how I can change my life and my path in life would go to which direction after this life time experience… I significantly look forward to meeting and interacting with all my classmates, faculties and staffs in Rotterdam. At the same time, I highly appreciate everyone and every opportunity…

Ready, Steady, Go!

First of all, Happy New 2012 Year to all of you at RSM! Finally we are now in final stages of packing and I must say we are very excited to start our year in the Netherlands. I am coming with my wife and my son, and I am expecting quite a bit of work in the first few weeks orientating myself, my wife and my son. But, fingers crossed I expect everything to go smoothly and I will hopefully update more on our adjustments. So, in a few days we will say Good Bye Ulaanbaatar and Hello Rotterdam. Looking…

My MBA! My RSM! Getting there…
Posted by Wayne Swart in Student life
I’m so excited! I just cannot hide it! Aha aha aha… Now I’ve got that tune in my head. Last time I wrote about my becoming and how I decided on RSM. This time I thought I’d write to give some insight into my journey to get from Johannesburg to Rotterdam. There were just so many things to keep me occupied. So let’s start at the beginning (after the end that is). The RSM MBA application process in itself was daunting, having to write the essays, getting the references in place, filling in the forms, acquiring supporting documentation, it did…
